Magical Madison

Sweet Madison was a complete angel the entire time we spent together.  I absolutely loved the fact that her mama and daddy wanted to do a couple pictures of her on her special quilt – which in a previous life was a grandma’s wedding dress!  You can even see the precious pearls and details creating Madison’s sleeping cacoon!  And her darling parents were so enamored with her…it’s quite obvious why.  She definitely gets the award for best lips.  Okay…best everything.  I say that every time, don’t I?  But it’s true.  I can’t help but fall in love with these newborns.  They are just so darling…I could almost take them home.  I would too if the parents would let me :)

2011 Military Family Photography Contest Winner

It took me forever to count up all 500 comments received on the 2011 Military Family Photography Contest post – but I am happy to announce the top three finalists and the winner!

First our finalists…these are the fine folks that received the most votes (and how we assigned the numbers 1 through 3 for Random.org)….

The element of surprise was on his side – and coming in on top when it came to votes received, Jared & his darling family snagged up the most votes…

In a super tight race, Karen & Josh & their girls came in a close second – and I am going to give them the award for ‘best comments’…since almost every single one of their votes came accompanied with affirmations and praises that this family indeed deserves the best.

Rounding out our top three was Crystal and her cutie-patootie family who actually touched me personally with her words…what an amazing reminder of how much sacrifice it takes to be a military family.

After checking, counting, rechecking, recounting, rereading, triple checking, those three families were our top three….and then it was up to Random.org to choose the winner.

So a very hearty congratulations to Jared and family number #3!

You should see an email arriving very soon with information you need to book your photoshoot!

And thanks again to each family who entered…your emails, stories and photos touched so many people and I want to personally thank you from my family to yours for your everyday sacrifices.

Lovely Lyla

Little Lyla’s mama drove her down all the way from TENNESSEE just to get her photos taken…and I am so glad she did.  What a little doll!  I am so thrilled to add her to my portfolio of little ones.  Look at that face!  Like a little Gerber Baby!  This age, the sitting babies, are my favorite.  I know that I say this after every photoshoot…but how could she not be a favorite with eyes like that!  Thanks you guys for making the trek and I hope that you are thrilled with your photos…I will never forget how your little girl was sittin’ in that grass :)

Sweet Caroline

Did you ever hold a newborn girl in your hands?  A newborn that was so delicate and beautiful that it was like holding a doll made of featherweight glass?  This baby girl was that for me.  Simply gorgeous.  Makes me wish I had a little girl…so simply lovely.   And you can see why…her mother was drop dead gorgeous.  Thanks Jessica for your patience in getting your photos…I hope you love them as much as I do!

Do you know a military family that deserves a free photoshoot? Please share this link with them!

I wish I could give free photoshoots to all the families out there serving our country…and I hope that my little way of saying THANK YOU will inspire you to give from your own resources…whether that be a homemade batch of cookies or just a note telling a military family that you are thankful for them and the sacrifice they make everyday.  And remember to vote on Independence Day!  One special family will be so glad to win a free photoshoot.  And feel free to share this with your friends, family & community through Facebook & Twitter & your own blog!

Senior Alexa

Oh beautiful Alexa.  She will be forever engrained in my head as a black & white girl.  Why?  Because she looks gorgeous in color and black & white…which is in my book, pretty darn hard to pull off.  It’s probably because she has amazing features; perfect straight nose, big smile that can light up a room and those eyes!  They are like what girls wish for when they turn thirteen because the blue in them is so amazing that it can melt a guy instantly.  Thanks you guys for letting me be a part of your senior celebration.  Alexa, I know you will go far honey…really really far…

Senior Danl

Seniors are quickly becoming my favorite photoshoots.  Sure, babies are squishy and families are just plain fun and children have unending energy…but seniors are different.  They are commemorating something special…freedom and new beginnings and saying goodbye.  Danl is such a senior.  Being homeschooled, he has an extra special goodbye to say to his sweet teacher.  But I know that his mama is excited and proud of him as he takes his next steps in his journey.  And she should be – this young man has IT.  That quality of awesomeness.  That contagious smile.  That quiet sureness.  All wrapped up with a great sense of shoewear :)   Thanks Destiny and Danl – I really had a blast with you both!

Miss Mary

Little Miss Mary was the most active little girl I have ever seen.  I think she ran the entire time we had the photoshoot.  And thankfully the whole park was relatively empty so she had the entire place to roam.  I think my favorite part was when she taught me about pixie dust and we hopped from rock to rock throwing pixie dust on each other.  Thank you Mary (and Stephanie!) for having fun with me and the geese in that warm March day.  I love your images (especially the ones that show off your big green eyes!) and hope you do too!

Handsome Henry

Henry was an absolute dollbaby.  I’ve never seen such a wonderfully easy going baby and it was such a joy to work with him and his beautiful family.  This kid won the genetic jackpot and they were the picture of happiness.  I know those first few days are especially hard with a newborn but they made it look oh-so-easy.  This shoot was especially fun because we got to run around with his big brother (Mom had two under two! Whew!) and Henry’s mom showed me the boy’s rooms – I thought I died and went to inspirational heaven!  The nursery was gorgeous (the last photo shows Henry’s changing table!).
