A typical newborn photo shoot lasts between 1 and 3 hours. It will take place in the comfort of your own home or your chosen location. Please note that a travel fee is required if the location is 20+ minutes from my home. Prior to the shoot, please have your babies’ outfits ready as well as any special items (hats or accessories, props, blankets, heirlooms, or special gift that you would like to have included in some photos). I also ask that you have additional diapers and burp cloths available (you know…just in case!). If you have a special concept in mind for your newborn’s photo shoot, please do not hesitate to let me know (I love creativity at work!)
Children are so much fun to capture in action! The best way to snag that perfect picture is to use natural light either in the early morning or the hours right before the sun goes down. Location is important with kids…it would be best to choose an outdoor park or wide open space like a field, playground or even a big backyard. Children photo shoots require the child to feel comfortable, happy, and free to be themselves. I like to get to know your child before the shoot begins so this type of session requires about 1 hour. After the quick get-to-know-you time, I let the child play, explore, run and be a kid. Plan on 2 to 4 outfits and all accessories. It’s also a good idea to bring their favorite stuffed animal or toy, special trinket, snacks, sippie cups, and even treats to encourage smiles.
Maternity photos are one of my deepest passions. I think pregnancy brings out a beautiful vulnerability – a glow that makes the eyes sparkle a little more and that smile shines a little brighter. Pick a location that is special to you…urban or country. I recommend scheduling your shoot the couple of hours right before the sun goes down. Plan on 2-3 outfits for you (and Daddy) including accessories and any special props you may want to include. I also tell my glowing girls to bring a quick snack – like a banana, granola bar, or string cheese – to keep your energy high. I like schedule shoots that are 2 months before the little one is due…mostly because the bumps are big enough by then without the mommy being too uncomfortable.
Senior portraits are a great way to capture the milestone as your child says goodbye to one phase and moves on to the great adventure of life. It’s also a wonderful reminder of their interests and accomplishments. That is why I encourage Senior portraits to include your child’s special interests (sports, music, etc.). Plan on 2-3 outfits for your young adult (sports gear, prom dresses or letter jackets are always a favorite!) and this includes a casual and dressy outfit.
Families are so fun to capture! I like to snag individual shots during the shoot as well as groups (examples: entire family, children only, Mom & Dad only). Family sessions usually last from 1 to 2 hours depending on how many outfit changes are planned. I encourage at least 2 different ‘looks’ for the entire group. Clothing should coordinate but not be identical for all family members. Please bring items mentioned above for children’s sessions to your family session.
